In the present day, there is growing concern over the risks posed to the environment by thirsty cars that need a lot of gasoline to even complete a short journey or two. Even the more economic cars are often out of line with what other countries are proposing, and as a result there are people with expensive cars on their hands that become even more expensive when the issue of getting them from A to B arises. The whole matter is not helped at all by the fact that electric cars are falling very far short of practicality, few are being sold and those that are sold are all too often abandoned when the lack of practicality dawns on the owner.
In this respect the Honda Clarity may be the answer to a lot of people’s problems. It runs on electricity, to an extent, but this electricity is generated by putting liquid hydrogen into the tank. As a consequence, the need to “charge” a car every couple of hours disappears. At the moment, the number of filling stations dispensing hydrogen is low outside California. But the Clarity stands a chance of being successful and raising the question – and subsequent solution – of hydrogen-powered automobiles. This is something which will help motorists and the environment.
